The Tour de France bicycle race is an annual event that takes place in early July and lasts about three weeks in duration. It generally has a different route each year and takes in some neighbouring countries. In past years it has been to the UK and Ireland and in 2009 it starts from Holland and then comes back to complete most of the circuit within France.
